Skiing: Vermont > Sugarbush

Sugarbush Resort is one of the United States premier skiing resorts, with 111 trails descending from six interconnected mountain areas in the heart of Vermont's Green Mountain National Forest. With a jaw-dropping 2,650 feet of vertical, some of the most revered skiing terrain and an unparalleled commitment to skier and rider services, Sugarbush has constantly earned the praise of skiers and the ski media, alike.

Three new tree-skiing trails have been added to the trail map. Sugarbush has put $28 million into lift and snowmaking expansion. An incredibly powerful state of the art snowmaking system, which begins with a 63-million gallon snowmaking pond, includes a new distribution system and ends on the mountain with "Sugarbush Snow." As for lifts, Sugarbush will have the most high-speed detachable quads in the eastern United States. A total of seven new lifts, including four high-speed detachable quads, brings the lift total to 18.

A ride on the Slide Brook Express is worth the price of admission alone.

The detachable quad chair covers the 2.7 miles between Lincoln Peak and Glen Ellen in less than ten minutes, traversing the rugged Slide Brook drainage area between the two halves of Sugarbush. Those who are the least bit squeamish about a regular chairlift ride would do well to take the ground-based weekend and holiday shuttle that runs continuously between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. rather than brave the whoop-dee-doos of the Express. Instead, enjoy the whoop-dee-doos of the 'bush's classic terrain and 2,650 feet of vertical.

Recent improvements to the resort include the new Lincoln Peak Village which opened in the 2006-07 season. Included in the Villiage are the new Clay Brook slopeside condos, the Gate House base lodge which is double the size of the old base lodge, and a new upscale restaurant.
